Monterey Homeless Woman turned Millionaire Gives Back on KSBW
UPDATED 10:57 AM PDT Jul 07, 2014 By Jacqueline Mazur MONTEREY, Calif. —Sarah Luiz Chandler said it was a stroke of bad luck and bad boyfriends that landed her on the streets of Monterey for more than a year. Today, she is a millionaire and has decided to give back to her community. “It’s the weirdest experience,” Chandler said. “I can’t even begin to tell you how that felt.” Eight months ago, Chandler’s father died and left her an inheritance that helped her regain her financial stability and independence. Chandler said she feels great that she can help homeless men and women. “It’s time to help, and it’s the greatest, most satisfying, electric experience you can ever imagine,” Chandler said. “Homelessness doesn’t have to be a lifestyle. It can be just a moment in time.” Her donations included paying for a community meal at Gloria’s Restaurant in Salinas on Sunday. Chandler encouraged others to also give back.
